Mmmm lets give it up for Edgar All Poe here since this drink is kind of named after him. The Raven cocktail is a dark colored concoction that really makes great use of fresh berries and mint. I rarely have a crappy drink that contains mint so this one will likely be no different. In many ways this works similar to a Rum Smash cocktail, but there is no lemon juice in there (although adding some would be likely pretty bomb.)
The flavor profile for this cocktail is pretty sweet overall. There is not a lot of citrus going on in this drink so one may argue it’s not entirely balanced. I used a Rum that is made with Molasses and I feel that gives the drink a better taste. The Molasses rum has a very distinct flavor that doesn’t always play nice with others, this one however is like a little heavenly match for it.
The alcohol content for this cocktail is nothing major. Overall there is about 4 oz of liquid in it plus the 2 we add to account for dilution. Considering only 1 1/2 oz of it is actually alcohol this drink has roughly a 10% ABV or 20 proof content level. Not bad, still will make you feel good, but the burn is minimal.
Anywho, that’s enough about my thoughts. Get the recipe below, watch the video, and start crafting your own Raven cocktails today.
