If you have ever watched the show Sex and the City than you surely know about the famous Cosmo. However this drink has a history before the show and if you don’t know it than you may be a little surprised. There are a couple different ways to make this drink, I will be making the Dale DeGroff style of the drink so if you think it doesn’t look quite as pink as you’re used to, this is why.
The Dale DeGroff style is a more refined version of the drink and it has helped with the popularity of Dale DeGroff himself, he even gained a sponsorship with Ocean Spray over it to help promote Cranberry Juice in Europe.
Notes on Ingredients:
This calls for some Citrus Vodka. This is a vodka that has typically been flavored with lemon. I used Absolut Citron in this as it was the original citrus vodka.
As always, fresh is best with the juices. I also chose to use a no sugar added Cranberry Juice in order to not add additional sugar to this drink.
In order to flame an orange peel make sure you warm it up a little before trying to express the juices from it. The essential oils will not release well if the orange is cold.
