The Grasshopper is a cocktail that is sweet and dessert like before it became all the rage. Although there are a couple different stories about the creation of this drink, the most commonly accepted one is that it was created in New Orleans.
- 1 ounce Creme de Menthe
- 1 ounce Creme de Cacao
- 2 ounces Heavy Cream
- Chill a coupe glass with ice or put it in the fridge.
- Add all ingredients to a mixing glass.
- Add ice and shake well.
- Strain into your chilled glass.
This drink is obviously very sweet as both liqueurs are mild and usually more complementary alcohols instead of being the stars of the show.
The Grasshopper has a chocolate mint taste to it, not quite Andes candy, but pretty darn close to it. It has virtually no alcohol burn whatsoever and packs very little punch. It’s beautiful in it’s simplicity and nice green coloring. One of my favorite dessert drinks for sure.
