So back in the 1800s in the United Kingdom Gin was king. And British seaman used their Gin rations frequently by mixing Roses lime juice with it. In fact it was almost encouraged because lime juice is a well known remedy for Scurvy.

So this drink was born out of functionality believe it or not. Today you’ll see many variations of a Gimlet and you’ll see it a lot with Vodka. After the rise in popularity of Vodka a lot of popular Gin drinks were remade using Vodka as a primary ingredient instead. However this one sticks to the roots and I’m using Gin for this particular Gimlet.

Here’s how to make it:

  • 3 oz Gin
  • 1 oz Roses Lime Juice
  1. Pour all into a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake and strain into a chilled glass.
  3. Garnish with a lime wedge.
